Sustainability is of paramount importance to Maassluis municipality. For that reason, following a European tender, the municipality took another step towards making its fleet more sustainable: the purchase of two hybrid Geesink refuse trucks. Alderman Denise Mulder (including sustainability and environment) signed the contract on behalf of the municipality with main contractor Geesinknorba Benelux represented by André Komen.
The hybrid vehicles are still being built and will be delivered early next year. After delivery, the new hybrid refuse trucks will be used to empty the crane bins within the Maassluis region.
Quieter, lower CO2 emissions and less fuel consumption
‘Hybrid’ means that the trucks have an economical diesel engine (Euro 6) that is combined with an electric engine. The vehicles can drive fully electric during part of the working day in Maassluis. An additional advantage is that it makes them considerably quieter (when the vehicle drives electrically almost no noise at all), lower CO2 emissions and lower fuel consumption. The municipality is one of the first users of this type of hybrid refuse vehicle.
We thank the municipality of Maassluis for its trust in our company and products!
