The municipality of Rotterdam has recently received the first Geesink GPMV IV rear loader on Volvo FE Electric chassis. The truck will be used for an emission free and noiseless waste collection in the inner city of Rotterdam. The tender was awarded to Volvo and Geesinknorba because they could deliver the best sustainable solution backed by an excellent service support.
The municipality has set challenging ambitions to improve the air quality in the city. In 2030, only emission free vehicles are permitted to carry out the waste management services. The goal is a green and healthy city ready for the future. Another benefit is the noiseless operation of the truck for both drivers and residents. The truck is almost too quiet; other people on the road can hardly hear the truck. For that reason, a noise system has been fitted on the truck to increase the road safety. The municipality sees the growth of the production of electric vehicles as very positive.
We wish the drivers many safe kilometers with this amazing new truck!
