On Thursday 8th November 2018, Cees Solinger, Director General of Geesinknorba Spain, Portugal and Latin America, retired after twenty six years working for the business. Cees set up Geesinknorba’s Spanish division in 1993 and quickly established Geesinknorba’s GPMII product range into the market with the sale of the first unit to FCC for operation in Madrid City.
Over the 1990’s and 2000’s, the company expanded and had a national sales team on the road as well as setting up an installation facility in Torrejón de Ardoz-Madrid for the mounting of Geesinknorba units onto truck chassis. A comprehensive parts and after-sales service was also set up to provide national support for the product. A service facility was later added in Rubi-Barcelona and also a manufacturing plant in Seville for the production of the Kiggen range of static and portable compactors. Seville also mounted Geesinknorba units onto truck chassis for customers in the south of Spain and for the Canary Islands.
Other products were added to the range such as side loaders, precinct and truck mounted road sweepers, bin washers and beach cleaning equipment. This enabled Geesinknorba Spain’s customers to have a one stop shop for all of its waste collection, street and beach cleaning equipment requirements.
The company was also the first in Spain to introduce hybrid type waste collection vehicles to the market. Cees always had a careful eye for the market and what customers wanted, both for the present and the future. He will be sadly missed by his staff, customers, acquaintances and friends.
We wish Cees a happy retirement.
