Geesinknorba has appointed Irish Commercials as its exclusive dealer to represent them in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Geesinknorba has taken a new approach to the Irish market with a partnership with Irish Commercials, the Volvo Trucks dealership based in Naas, County Kildare and Oranmore, Galway.

The company has chosen a dealership to partner encompassing the whole of Ireland. Trading under the name Geesinknorba Ireland, the company will offer a full sales and aftermarket service from 1st December.

Geoff Rigg, Geesinknorba’s UK and Ireland Business Director said he is very excited about the waste management company’s new partnership with Irish Commercials.

He said: “We see the Irish market consolidating and the whole customer base is becoming much more professional. We took our time looking for the right partner but when we found Irish Commercials it was soon obvious that they were what we were looking for and didn’t take long to appoint them.

“We know how they go about business in terms of a consultative approach, long term decisions, and professional well organised aftersales. We see them as a company that does business in a very similar way to ourselves.”

The Geesinknorba business will further enhance Irish Commercial’s ability to provide all-in solutions for customers, including offering financial solutions via Volvo Financial Services according to Managing Director Barry Horan.

He said: “We market ourselves very strongly as a one stop shop. This partnership further enhances that for the waste sector. Geesinknorba has a massive range of quality products from 7.5 tonnes up to 32 tonnes. As a company they have gone down a similar route as regards a one stop shop in that they can provide the body, the bin-lifts, and more recently they can provide the weighing solution – something which is quite unique.”

Barry believes the new business will complement Irish Commercials’ long-standing relationship with Volvo Trucks, but stresses that Geesinknorba products will be fitted to whatever trucks customers wish to use.

He said: “We very much view ourselves as Volvo, and although we would rather sell a Geesinknorba body on a Volvo chassis, as Geesinknorba Ireland it is critical that we are happy to sell our products on other makes as well. Otherwise we are limiting Geesinknorba Ireland which is obviously the last thing we want to do.”

The full range of Geeinknorba’s extensive product line-up, including the award winning Plug-in Electric vehicle range will be available to Irish customers. As well as the existing facilities in Naas and Galway which will be fully equipped to meet all servicing and aftersales requirements, Geesinknorba Ireland will be appointing a number of sub-dealers.

Additionally a number of promotional events including a Roadshow with demonstration vehicles are being planned for the coming months.

Geesinknorba has signed a contract with Italian manufacturer Rossi for the distribution of its products including satellite RCVs.

Leading refuse collection vehicle (RCV) manufacturer Geesinknorba has signed a contract with Italian manufacturer Rossi Oleodinamica for the exclusive distribution of its products including satellite waste collection vehicles.

The contract was signed by Geesinknorba Chief Executive Mr Roel Nizet and Mr Oscar Rossi, co-owner of the family-run Rossi Oleodinamica, on October 6th, 2011. Rossi Oleodinamica products will now be sold under the Geesinknorba brand.

The company, based in Riccione, northern Italy, produces small refuse collection vehicles which act as satellites, collecting waste material and transferring it to larger RCVs.

The satellite vehicles range in size from 2-12m3 and are fitted with their own compaction mechanisms and lifting equipment. They are designed for operation in urban areas with narrow streets and other places with limited access, such as holiday parks and underground car parks which often have refuse collection points.

Satellite vehicles are ideal for urban environments and work with larger RCVs from Geesinknorba's extensive range

Mr Roel Nizet said: “Geesinknorba’s research, including excellent feedback from sales staff throughout our branches, showed that the existing market for small, satellite vehicles was not only significant in itself but would grow as a result of increased recycling.
“We searched for a good and reliable producer of quality products at a good market price and we found what we were looking for in Rossi Oleodinamica.

“The satellite vehicles will work perfectly with our GPMIII and N3 series vehicles. They collect the waste material from source then, when full, discharge into the hopper of the larger vehicles and return for further waste collection. It is a quick, clean and efficient system that already operates successfully in many urban centres in Europe.

“Our sales teams are eager to sell this new product range and are confident that they will create additional income for Geesinknorba. And the contract will also create further income in the Parts and Service divisions of our organisation.”

The satellite vehicles are available with steel and aluminium bodies allowing a good balance between strength and weight-reduction. The bodies are also water-tight, enabling them to be used for the transfer of wet material without leakage. And they can also be either ribbed or flat-sided and mounted on different manufacturers’ chassis from 3.5 tonnes to 10 tonnes (an HGV driver’s license is not required till 7.5 tonnes).

Some of the Rossi satellite vehicles have ribbed bodies

Other vehicles have smooth sided bodies

The smaller vehicles also produce less noise and use less fuel resulting in cost-savings and lower carbon emissions, all of which make them eminently suitable for operation in urban environments across Europe.

Geesinknorba has won a prestigious contract to create the most fuel efficient diesel-powered fleet in the UK.

Geesinknorba has won a prestigious contract to supply six refuse collection vehicles (RCVs) to Enterprise PLC for their City of London contract, creating the most fuel efficient diesel-powered fleet in the UK.

All six will be award-winning Plug-in electric vehicles with 15m3 split bodies from Geesinknorba’s MF range for multifraction collections, the first split-bodied Plug-in Electric vehicles ordered in the UK.

This is also the first time Geesinknorba has won a contract to supply vehicles to the end user City of London, to cope with tight streets and sharp corners which characterise parts of the historic “Square Mile”.

What Geesinknorba's Plug-in Electric MF vehicles will look like in City of London's striking livery

The new Geesinknorba vehicles will operate throughout the area. The vehicles are able to cope with the most challenging of collection rounds because the bodies have been designed to maximise capacity while maintaining the ability to operate in narrow streets having been mounted on highly manoeuvrable chassis.

As well as being at the heart of Britain’s business and financial community, the City of London attracts thousands of tourists and other visitors every day and operates 24-hour domestic and commercial waste and recycling collections to maintain positive perceptions. The six new vehicles will join this operation in December.

Geesinknorba’s UK Business Director Geoff Rigg said: “I’m delighted that Geesinknorba is again breaking into new territory like this. The Enterprise City of London contract is highly prestigious and they’ve taken a very forward-thinking approach to their requirements with cost and environmental impact to the fore.

“Using our latest mark 5 Plug-in Electric technology on a diesel powered chassis will make them the most fuel efficient fleet in the UK at a time when fuel prices are soaring. Typically customers can expect fuel savings in excess of 20% and often considerably more depending on the type of rounds in which they operate and the way operators use the vehicle. So the projected savings in operating costs through this alone are terrific.

“On top of this, Enterprise has opted for our MF bodies which are designed to collect different recycling and waste streams at the same time which, in addition to the reduction in carbon emissions through fuel efficiency, shows their true commitment to the environment.”

Geesinknorba has been awarded ISO14001 certification after its UK-based operation passed detailed inspection by BSI with flying colours.

The leading international standards award covers the full range of Geesinknorba activities in the UK, including manufacturing products to client specifications, after-sales support for both Geesinknorba and third-party products, on and off-site maintenance, service and spare parts supply and the servicing and repair of commercial vehicles.

Inspectors spent three days auditing the Llantrisant plant in early July and concluded there were “no outstanding non-conformities”.

UK Business Director Geoff Rigg said: “I’m delighted with the result. We always put a great deal of effort into ensuring we meet recognised standards in all areas of our operation and surpass them wherever we can.

“That we passed inspection with relative ease is a tribute to the high standards set by the company and maintained by Geesinknorba’s staff. As part of our partnership with BSI going forward, we’re now working together to set even higher standards and so make further improvements to our business.”

Best practice is being promoted by Geesinknorba who are offering customers a helping hand to get their RCVs’ hydraulics in order.

The company has carried out research into hydraulics performance and has found that something as simple as changing filters regularly cuts down on operating costs and reduces maintenance requirements.

“We have for some time been recommending to customers that they change the first filter at the same time as they have their first chassis service (normally after six weeks) and now our research shows just how beneficial that is,” said UK Business Director Geoff Rigg.

“However, with the best will in the world, it is still easy to overlook what on the face of it seems like such a small thing. Since we’re a company that really tries to adhere to best practice and which understands the benefits of doing so, we felt we had to do something to rectify this.

“So to help remind customers and to give them a head start, we’ll be sending out a spare set of filters with all our RCVs from now on.”

Geesinknorba has signed up as a main sponsor of the RWM show and it has expanded its stand to show more products.

Geesinknorba is giving its full endorsement to the RWM show in September by signing up as one of the main sponsors, expanding the size of its stand and increasing the number of products on show.

UK Business Director Geoff Rigg said: “We believe this is a vital show for our industry and everyone at Geesinknorba is determined to play their part to make it a real success.

“The merger of the RWM and Futuresource shows has created the right platform for the industry and answers calls from exhibitors and customers alike for one major event in the UK which could also grow to become an international event.

“We’ve come on board as one of the main sponsors of the show, sponsoring the outside area of the showground which should help to give us a really good presence. We’ve also increased the area of our stand so we can take more vehicles than ever and show them off to their full potential.

“In particular we’ll be demonstrating the new weighing system we’ve developed which we’re very proud of. Feedback from selected customers so far has been very positive and we’re now ready to show it to a wider audience.”

The vehicles on show will include a wide section of our product base including G-Series, N-Series, MF-Series and Mini-Series. We will also be exhibiting a new Pod vehicle and our latest combi split bin lift and the new weighing system.

The show at the NEC in Birmingham runs from September 13th – 15th. Geesinknorba will be on Stands OA190 and OA250.
